BFI has unveiled its upcoming Blu-ray and DVD releases for July, August, and September 2026, featuring a strong mix of classic cinema, British filmmaking, and cult favourites.
Leading the July lineup is On the Beach, arriving on Blu-ray on 27 July. Directed by Stanley Kramer, the post-apocalyptic drama stars Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, and Anthony Perkins. The film explores humanity’s final days after nuclear fallout devastates the planet.
On 10 August, The Mahabharata arrives on Blu-ray. Directed by Peter Brook, the release includes a newly restored five-hour television mini-series adaptation of the ancient Indian epic.
A major highlight lands on 24 August with Rose of Nevada from acclaimed Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkin. Starring George MacKay and Callum Turner, the film blends ghost storytelling, time travel, and social realism. BFI will also release Mark Jenkin – The Cornish Trilogy, a Blu-ray box set featuring Bait, Enys Men, and Rose of Nevada.
On 7 September, Pressure by pioneering filmmaker Horace Ové will receive its first UK Blu-ray release following a 4K restoration from the BFI National Archive.
Closing the slate on 21 September is cult sci-fi favourite Plan 9 from Outer Space by Ed Wood, packaged alongside Bride of the Monster.
