Wicked

Wicked brings the famous stage musical to the big screen in a colourful and emotional fantasy adventure. Set before the events of The Wizard of Oz, the film tells the story of two young women who could not seem more different but eventually form an unexpected friendship.

The story follows Elphaba, a talented young woman who is often treated differently because of her green skin, and Glinda, who is popular, confident, and used to getting attention. The two meet when they become students at Shiz University. At first, they struggle to get along, but their relationship slowly changes as they begin to understand each other.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Wicked is the way it looks at friendship. Elphaba and Glinda may have completely different personalities, but they both have insecurities and dreams. Their friendship shows how someone who seems completely different from you can sometimes become one of the most important people in your life.

The film also explores the idea of judging people based on appearances. Elphaba is treated as a problem simply because she looks different, while Glinda is admired because she fits the image people expect. As the story develops, it becomes clear that appearances do not tell us who someone really is.

The music is another major part of the experience. The songs bring emotion and energy to the story, while the colourful sets and costumes make the world of Oz feel magical.

Overall, Wicked is more than a traditional fantasy story. It is about friendship, prejudice, courage, and standing up for what you believe is right.

It reminds us that being different does not make someone wicked. Sometimes, the people who are judged most quickly are the ones who deserve to be understood.
