Grafted

Grafted is a disturbing horror film that explores what can happen when the desire to change yourself becomes an obsession. The film combines body horror with ideas about beauty, confidence, and the pressure people can feel to look a certain way.

The story follows Wei, a talented medical student who moves to New Zealand to continue her studies. She is intelligent and ambitious, but she also carries insecurities about her appearance. Her interest in medical science eventually leads her towards an experimental procedure that could change her life.

At first, the idea seems exciting. Wei believes that she has found a way to improve herself and perhaps finally feel comfortable in her own skin. However, her experiments soon begin to have disturbing consequences. What starts as an attempt to create something better slowly turns into something much more frightening.

One thing that makes Grafted interesting is that the horror is connected to something many people understand. Most of us have felt insecure about our appearance at some point. The film takes those everyday worries and pushes them to an extreme, showing how dangerous it can become when someone believes they are not good enough as they are.

The body horror is certainly not for everyone, but it helps communicate the film's message. Wei's physical changes reflect the emotional pressure she is experiencing, making her journey uncomfortable to watch but difficult to forget.

I think Grafted works because there is more to it than simply trying to scare the audience. It makes us think about beauty standards, identity, and how far someone might go to feel accepted.

Overall, Grafted is a creepy and thought provoking horror film that shows how the desire to become perfect can sometimes turn into a nightmare.
