The Horniman Museum and Gardens is set to introduce one of London’s most innovative outdoor attractions with the launch of Animals Everywhere!, a fully web-based augmented reality trail arriving in late Spring 2026. Developed in partnership with Smartify, the global leader in digital visitor engagement, the new AR experience will transform the Horniman’s 16 acres into an interactive world of virtual wildlife.

Designed to be free, family-friendly and accessible, the trail gives visitors the chance to meet animated 3D animals inspired by the Horniman’s natural history and living collections. Highlights include feeding the iconic Horniman walrus, discovering a giant Megalodon, and spotting dazzling Blue Morpho butterflies.

One of the biggest advantages of Animals Everywhere! is its no-app, no-download experience. Visitors simply scan a QR code on their mobile device and start exploring instantly — ideal for families looking for easy outdoor activities in London.

The trail is part of the Horniman’s ambitious Nature + Love project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, aiming to help urban audiences build deeper connections with nature through creative, digital storytelling.

For families planning free days out in south London, Animals Everywhere! will be a must-visit attraction in 2026.
