Three New Exhibitions to Open This Autumn at Gainsborough's House

Art lovers have plenty to look forward to this autumn as Gainsborough's House unveils three major exhibitions on the same day, celebrating established talent, rising stars and a pioneering printmaker whose work deserves a fresh spotlight.

Leading the programme is Glenn Brown: Anatomy of Trees, the largest UK museum display of the acclaimed artist's work in more than a decade. Featuring paintings and drawings created over the last ten years, the exhibition explores Brown's fascination with trees as living, expressive forms inspired by Suffolk's ancient woodlands. Spread across both the gallery and the historic house, the exhibition creates a fascinating conversation between contemporary art and one of Britain's most important artistic landmarks.

Also opening is Georg Wilson: The Ancient Pulse of Germ and Birth, showcasing new works by one of Britain's most exciting emerging painters. Inspired by Gainsborough's collection, the Suffolk landscape and English folklore, Wilson reimagines the countryside as untamed and mysterious. Her richly textured paintings embrace the changing seasons and celebrate the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world.

Completing the trio is Monica Poole: Nature's Dark Beauty, the first UK exhibition dedicated solely to the artist's wood engravings in more than 30 years. Bringing together more than 20 works, the exhibition highlights Poole's remarkable skill and her ability to create landscapes that are both striking and thought provoking.

Opening on 8 November 2026 and running until 18 April 2027, the three exhibitions offer visitors a chance to experience very different artistic voices, all connected by a shared fascination with nature, landscape and the stories they inspire.
